Interesting....
I think this article really speaks to the fact that defense is overrated. That "bad" defensive players really aren't that much worse than the "great" defensive players. When you think about it, 99.9999% of ML baseball players wouldn't make a ML roster if they were really that terrible at a position. A certain Dan Murphy comes to mind....lol. |

Interesting.... I think this article really speaks to the fact that defense is overrated. That "bad" defensive players really aren't that much worse than the "great" defensive players. When you think about it, 99.9999% of ML baseball players wouldn't make a ML roster if they were really that terrible at a position. A certain Dan Murphy comes to mind....lol. I'd agree with that idea as long as you stipulate that every player you're looking at has to be able to play the position at a major league level. I don't know if Murphy is there yet at anywhere but 1B and probably 3B. -------------------- '-|-'

I personally believe that every player should be given his due respect. We should never categorize players based on their defense. We should assess them on the basis of their overall gaming abilities. Anyway I have read the book written by Mitchel Lichtman. It has got a lot of information. It is a must read for every baseball player.
