is he going to replace pelfrey?
-------------------- '-|-'
![]() - "Mr. Jeff Wilpon has decided that he’s going to learn how to run a baseball team and take over at the end of the year… Run for the hills, boys. I think probably all those baseball people will bail… Jeff sits there by himself like he’s King Tut waiting for his camel.” - Nelson Doubleday - "In today's regulatory environment, it's virtually impossible to violate rules." - Bernard Madoff, 10/20/07 The Washington Post decided not to cover Ralph Nader's presidential campaign because he had no chance of winning. Nader's response: "Then why are you covering the Nationals?" - Asked by the Post about the younger Wilpon's job performance, Fred Wilpon said: "Excellent. Everybody knows ...that." - "The word 'autonomy' is sometimes misused." - Jeff Wilpon - "Let’s give Jeff Wilpon the benefit of the doubt here for a moment. Let’s say he is not short-tempered. Tone deaf. A credit seeker. An accountability deflector. A micro-manager. A second-guesser. A less-than-deep thinker. And bad at self-awareness. Fine, he’s none of these things. But here is the problem: This is his perception in the industry." - Joel Sherman - “Jeff is the problem with the organization, and he is never going to realize that. He cannot help himself. He has to be involved. He will never hire anyone who will not let him have major input. He will not hire anyone who does not run every personnel decision through him.” - Anonymous NL Executive - "The only person with a worse reputation than Jeff Wilpon in the game is David Samson." - Anonymous AL executive - "[Mets GM Omar Minaya] isn’t the General Manager. Jeff Wilpon is. Omar’s the one out there to take the heat.” - Peter Gammons - [Jeff Wilpon's] role in management, according to one official who worked for him, "is to act as president and CEO of second-guessing." - "I always want Mets fans on my juries," said one noted defense attorney friend, a rabid Yankees fan. "They love losers, even three-time losers like some of my clients. And if Mets fans believe anything the Mets front office says, I can convince them to acquit anybody." - Denis Hamill - I got a call the other day. They noted I had been a long term season ticket holder and asked if I was interested. I immediately exclaimed "I'm so sorry for the Wilpon Family". He asked what I meant. I told the guy if he looked in my file, he'd see a note to call me after both Fred and Jeff dropped dead, and not a day before. - Meanballer |

is he going to replace pelfrey? From what I've read they were thinking about releasing Pelfrey up until his last start where he looked good. I don't think Young is going to be ready for a month or two any way.....Pelfrey will get a shot but if he stinks it'll be either Young or Schwinden to replace him. |

I can only LMFAO so hard at this. First at people who want to replace Pelfrey with Young. Second for the Mets who think it's a good idea to sign Chris Young. Third for Chris Young for thinking he can still throw a baseball with the expectation of getting MLB hitters out.
LMFAO!!!!!!!!! Chris Young, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Wait wait I swear I heard a joke like this before... Chris Young BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! That would make a great punchline or trivia question. Ron: When was the last time Chris Young was a viable MLB pitcher? Gary: Geez Ron, you're really making me think about this... Ron: I have faith in you Gary, you got this! Gary: It had to be when you were still pitching right?? Ron: Close!! Gary: Was it 2007? Ron: Gary you sly old dog! I knew you had it in you!! Chris Young, you guys crack me up. Seriously, hahaha. Maybe we should see what Scott Erickson is up to while we're at it. -------------------- People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Hey, maybe he'll pitch the first no-hitter in Mets history.....and then blow out his shoulder in his next start....and then he'll re-sign with the Mets in 2014 ! lol In other news, maybe they'll trade Pelfrey for Jamie Moyer |

Makes sense to me. Release Pelfrey, insert Young. Young pitches his annual 3-5 games. Realizes he can't pitch anymore, snorts some geritol, goes to have surgery. Mets call up SP Livan Hernandez from AAA Buffalo who proceeds to pitch to a 9 ERA. The Mets trade Matt Harvey to the Pittsburgh Pirates from the durable innings eater Mike Pelfrey who was previously released by the Mets. Mets release Livan and insert Pelfrey who gets loud boos and licks the skin off his hand. Yup sounds like a Mets move to me! -------------------- People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Supposedly he was working out with Young in San Diego..... Actually, how about this trade: Mets send Jon Niese, Bobby Parnell & Ike Davis to the Rockies for Jamie Moyer, Jason Giambi & Royce Ring ! Let me know what you think.... |

I think a rotation with Wheeler, Harvey, Niese, one of mejia or familia plus dickey could be really good... Infield with wright, tejada, valdespin and davis is good Outfield with duda and one homegrown, one acquisition is a big question mark Thole at catcher not sure, lets see |

No I think the Rockies are giving up to much in that deal. We should at least take on Todd Helton's salary until 2035. -------------------- People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. Infield with wright, tejada, valdespin and davis is good Outfield with duda and one homegrown, one acquisition is a big question mark Thole at catcher not sure, lets see Well hope springs eternal. Nothing wrong with that but you are banking on a quick development by all the pitching prospects when there is not yet any indication of this. They all seem to be some ways off from any real productive play and at this time while they are seen as potentially good no one is seen as a future star. Dickey means hoping that he continues to be a old-style knuckler with longevity. Will Wright wait? Will the Mets keep Wright? Honestly, if I were Wright I would want to be moved simply because the turnaround will not be this year or next and he would lock himself in to a mystery future. The guy deserves to play for a consistent winner and even management has been pretty straightforward that they are not close to that. Plus, Mets management cannot afford any Reyes blunder where they kept him rather than trade him for prospects when they had decided not to sign him....so who knows what will happen to Wright. Valdespin and Tejada will be fine if the rest of the team is strong or else they will be old-style average players. Nothing wrong with that but unless the rest of your team is producing they would get exposed. Davis and Duda are nice kids to watch and see what they will do over a full season which we haven't yet had the benefit of. -------------------- ![]() |
